Professor Evil and the Architects of Magic (Expansion)
Professor Evil and the Architects of Magic is an expansion for Professor Evil and the Citadel of Time. It comes with new mechanics and two new characters.
THE NEW CHARACTERS
Lloyd Right and Morgane Cardini are two new members of your team (Professor Evil is a cooperative game), each with new skills that may help you beat the Professor.
You are free to combine Lloyd and Morgane’s talents with those of your favourite characters in any way you wish, and then once again do battle with the Professor.
When you choose your character at the start of the game, you may now also choose to play Lloyd Right, Architect of the Impossible, or Morgane Cardini, Agent of Illusion.
THE PROFESSOR’S POSSESSIONS
The Professor’s Possessions are new treasure tiles that represent one of the Professor’s most prized personal artefacts. Mix these new treasures with the others, and then look out for them when they appear around the Castle.
If you can rescue a possession it will give the team a boost, but if the Professor stashes a possession before you get to it, you’ll start to hear the clock tick even faster. Beware!
Shuffle the 6 new treasure tiles with the other treasure tiles to make a single face-down stack at the start of the game. Then complete the setup of the treasure tiles as normal.
The possessions tiles are special treasure tiles that you can rescue or lose to the Professor as normal.
Each possession in the ‘Saved Treasures’ or ‘Lost Treasures’ space is worth half a treasure. Two possessions in either space are together worth a whole treasure towards the normal target of 4 treasures.
Each possession has two additional features: 1 or 2 clock faces and a bonus action.
Rescuing a possession:
If you rescue a possession:
–Bonus action: The Players can decide together how to use the bonus action on the tile. You must use the action immediately.
–Clock faces: Ignore the clock faces.
If you rescue a second possession, place the tile on top of the first possession tile. Together, two possessions are worth one whole treasure.
After you rescue a possession, reactivate all of the switches on the possession tile and set up a new treasure tile as normal.
Losing a possession:
If the Professor stashes a possession:
-Place the tile in the ‘Lost Treasures’ space.
–Clock faces: Immediately move the clock marker 1 step clockwise for each clock face on the tile.
-Bonus action: Ignore the bonus action.
If the Professor stashes a second possession, place the tile on top of the first possession tile. Together, two possessions are worth one whole treasure.
After the Professor stashes a possession, set up a new treasure tile as normal.
THE TIME PORTALS
The Time Portals allow the Professor to make use of his own amazing time travel technology – to manipulate time within the Castle itself!
When he moves around the Castle, the Professor will open time portals in each room he stops in. And if he ever revisits one, he will jump back in time and repeat his turn, making him an even-more formidable opponent!
Put the 12 time portal tokens in the middle of the main clock to form a supply.
Opening time portals:
When the Professor moves around the Castle, he can now open time portals or use existing ones to jump back in time and take his turn again.
Each time you roll the dice for the Professor, of the Professor die shows either 1, 2 or 3 chevrons or the secret passage, first resolve all of the dice as normal, then check the room in which he ended his movement.
-If there is no time portal his location, the Professor opens a new one. Take a time portal for the supply and place it in the room.
-If there is already a time portal in his location, first remove it, then roll the Professor and Color dice again and resolve them as normal. Do not reroll the Clock die.
If when you roll the dice for the Professor, the Professor die shows 5 or 10 minutes, he cannot open a time portal and cannot use an existing one.
Beware! If the Professor uses a time portal and again ends his movement in a room with an existing one, then he immediately uses that time portal too.
Closing time portals:
The players now have a new regular action: close time portal.
On your turn, for one action, you can remove a time portal from the room you are currently in, and place it back in the supply.
END OF THE GAME
The game ends as normal when either the players have rescued at least 4 treasures, or the Professor has stashed at least 4 treasures.
For example, if you rescue 3 treasures and 1 possession, you have not yet won the game.
The possession counts as half a treasure, so you have so far only rescued 3 1⁄2 treasures!
To win the game you need to rescue one more treasure or one more possession.
